This year everyone in the field has to wear high top tennis shoes or boots, to try to lessen sprained ankle injuries. Dont forget to check the thrift stores for high tops in your size, and if you buy new shoes please try to wear and break them in before the season starts.
As for the attendance bonuses, we had you make note on your application of any camps or vacations you had planned. We take these dates into consideration, not penalizing your bonus for missing them. We do expect you to be there on all other days. Telling us you cant come after the season has started does not count as an excused absence. We need to know from the beginning. Clocking out before work for the day is finished counts against your attendance bonus.
Detasseling usually lasts two weeks, give or take a few days finishing around the begining of august.
We do work on saturdays and sundays, i would like to have them off also, but we need to work everyday the corn is growing and the corn doesnt take weekends off.
We usually arrive at the fields a bit before 7:00 in the morning, your pay time starts when you reach the first field and ends when we finish the last field of the day, minus a half hour for lunch. Meaning, if we work in four fields in one day, you get paid for the bus ride between those fields.
The time we clock out varies from day to day, my goal is to clock out between 2:30 and 3:00 each day, but that is not always possible. Some days will be a bit earlier and some a bit later, it depends on the weather, how many acres we need to do for that day, and how many employees come to work on the given day.
